Concept Of Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles

Some decades back buying and selling of car was a very tricky and risky matter. Once the transaction was completed and the money was transferred and the previous owners would not take any guarantee regarding the proper functioning of the used cars. To take the advantage of this unethical practice many dishonest car dealers starting making ill deals for bad cars and earned a lot of money.

In those days buying a used car was avoided due to mistrust in the market created by the dishonest car dealers. Luxury car makers Lexus and Mercedes did not want their already sold cars with warranties still left to be labeled as “used cars”. To avoid this label they put in place an inspection for the cars still having warranties and the cars which passed those tests with flying colors were labeled as “certified”. The complete name for it was “Certified Pre-owned Vehicle” as the vehicle was already owned by someone.

This effort was really appreciated by the consumers who were earlier left to the mercy of the dishonest car dealers. Buying a used car with the label of “Certified Pre-owned Vehicle” gives the consumer a peace of mind that the vehicle he or she is purchasing is or has been brought up to the standards and has got extended warranties. For dealers it is a benefit as they can put any car through this inspection and if passed can sale it as consumers will now trust them with the label mentioning that the car has been through the inspection process and safe to buy.
