Driving Safely in The Fall

Posted by Admin | Posted in Automotive

If you’ve ever seen commercials with a used BMW driving through fall leaves, you might be lulled into thinking there are no hazards associated with fall driving. Unfortunately, wet leaves on the road can be every bit as slippery as ice and snow. Anytime the tires of your car cannot make direct contact with the road, you chances of skidding are greatly increased. If you are driving on dry leaves, the situation is not much better.

Aside from this, fall tends to be the time of year when wild animals are migrating, or even trying to escape from hunters. As a result, they may run right into the path of your car. If you have ever hit a deer, or watched a collision involving one, chances are you will never forget it. Even though many localities post dear crossing signs, it is always best to take extra precautions.

Typically, cheap car insurance will not cover a collision involving a wild animal. You will need to ask the insurance carrier to include a separate rider for this type of coverage. Even though it may be a few dollars more every month, you will have peace of mind knowing that you can get your vehicle repaired or replaced. For the most part, you should be able to obtain this coverage even if you drive very old used cars. In addition, if you have car loans, chances are the automobile lien holder will demand that you have this type of coverage.
