Some Things To Consider About Allowing Pets In Your Car

Posted by Admin | Posted in Auto Insurance

There is no question that most people love their pets, and want the best for them. Unfortunately, even when properly secured in pet carriers, being in car is not best thing. Each year thousands of dogs die from heat exhaustion, injury, and other types of harm. On top of that, when you go to shop for used cars, chances are you will know immediately that an animal has spent a good bit of time in it.

Even if you are looking for cheap car insurance, it is important to ask if animal occupants will be covered in case there is a collision. This is especially important if you frequently transfer pets to competitions, or other types of shows. If this coverage is not included, at least you will have an opportunity to add a rider to cover your pet, or find another insurance carrier.

If you are certain about wanting to transport your pets in a car on a routine basis, it might be best to find a used car with enough room in the back. Instead of an uncomfortable pet carrier, you may be able to install a gate that will prevent your pet from getting into the driver area. That said, if you are purchasing the vehicle with car loans, you might need to get permission from the lien holder to make these changes. If there will not be any permanent or damaging alterations made to the inside of the vehicle, chances are they will allow you to do this.
